Grooming

Helvetia Grooming has groomers on staff to meet your grooming needs.  Grooming takes the worry out of grooming the dog yourself.  We have grooming available Wednesday - Saturday's by appointment at 10 am and 1 pm.

We do difficult dogs, big dogs, small dogs, scissor cuts (little off all over), de-matting, shaving as well as basic baths.

We do not do dogs - in heat (female cycle), drugged, just came from the veterinarian or sick.  Why you may ask? - here is the condensed answer:
In heat - female dogs emit a pheromone that will set all the other dogs in the shop, as well as for grooming, 'off'.  That scent drives all dogs wild even if the other dogs are fixed.  Plus girl dogs get very sensitive in that area and get very nippy and protective.  Female dogs also bleed which isn't pleasant for anyone.  (If you need a doggy dyper we have cute ones!)
Drugged - When dogs get drugged sometimes they don't understand where they are and get upset even more.  Plus sometimes they also get so tired they fall asleep.  We are not a vet and don't have the medical equipment here to help a dog if they have problems from the drug.
From the Vet - "I'll got to the vet, give Max his shots, then see you!"  Please No!  Your dog will associate going to the vet with being groomed.  If they don't like the vet, they won't like us and there is no changing their mind!  Plus if the dog gets a shot they may get sick or not feel well - would you like to get bathed, rubbed and brushed when you just got a shot?  It isn't pleasant.
Sick - if they are sick that puts everyone at risk and can actually get other dogs sick as well as make that dog sicker.


Price depends on breed, cut and complexity.  What this means is that every dog is different.  One Lhasa's needs may be completely different than another's.  Call today (503-647-7704) for an approximate quote for a grooming of your dog - for a more precise quote we need to see the dog.  All grooms do include the bath, high quality shampoo, brushing, drying,  nails trimmed and ears cleaned.

Basic groom includes - Bath, brush, nails, anal glands (smaller dogs), ear cleaning, haircut.

Our shampoos are extremely high quality for not an extra charge!  They are soap and detergent free to help maintain the health of your dogs skin.

Extras:
Furminator Treatment - Want to stop the shedding?  We are a Furminator Retailer and Grooming Salon.  We can specially treat your dog with Furminator Shampoo, Conditioner and the Furminator Brush.  Price ranges, in addition to the groom, $10-$20 depending on size of dog.

I need my dog done NOW!:  Sometimes our little children get in trouble with a skunk or are just really dirty and you have that party at 6:00 and forgot to call ahead to make an appointment.  If we are booked for that day but your dog needs immediate attention it may be possible to take your dog in-between other grooms, however this will have an extra cost on top of your groom and is dependant on time of day and the extent of the groom.  

I want to stay with my dog:  It is just fine to stay with your dog if your dog is old, has problems or if you are just worried.  However there are some exceptions - please remember that your dog is in good hands and may only be putting on an act for you when you leave.  Many times as soon as the parent leaves the dog is just fine!

Sometimes dogs are old and have hip problems or get very stressed with a groom - it is fine to stay with your dog but this means the groomer can not work on any other dogs.  For example, sometimes a groomer will work on one dog while another one is drying, this can not happen if the groomer can only do your dog.  There will be an extra charge if you stay with your dog during the groom and it is dependant on size of the dog and complexity of the groom.
